| Welcome to this week's edition of Smart Investing.
The Federal Government is aiming to make it easier for more Australians to access financial advice at scale, and for a lower cost. That's welcome news, and Vanguard agrees super funds are well placed to provide simple, tailored retirement guidance.
However, in our lead article, Sara Dix, Vanguard's Head of Government Relations, Advocacy and Strategy, says any reforms around financial advice should also take into account the increasing role that non-super assets are playing in the retirement mix. Therefore, a wider range of advice delivery channels need to be explored to close the gaps.
In our second article this week, Senior Personal Finance Writer, Tony Kaye, reports that Australia's exchange traded funds (ETFs) sector reached another major milestone in August, with assets under management exceeding $150 billion for the first time. He examines the key drivers behind that, including the ETF segments that recorded the biggest investor inflows.
Lastly, Australian Tax Office data shows there is still around $16 billion in lost superannuation that's owing to millions of Australians. You may be among them and we explain how you can find out.
