Vanguard in the news Property can boost the investment mix Australian Financial Review | Bernard O'Riordan | 20 May 2019 With interest rates at rock bottom and returns from bonds and fixed income hardly worth cheering about, income-hungry investors are starting to gravitate towards the superior yields offered by Australian commercial property. Robin Bowerman, head of market strategy at Vanguard, says commercial property ETFs are a valid alternative for investors who have a lot of wealth tied up in the residential sector. "Residential property has been a very good asset class for a lot of investors but it's very illiquid," Bowerman says. "It's really hard when you need to buy a new car or take an overseas holiday to sell the bathroom. That's where ETFs come into their own because you can buy or sell just like you do with shares."
